Mademoiselle Saint Germain is the concretization of the project of two pharmacists from Versailles. One of them is keen about history and the other about cosmetics. When exploring the historic heritage of the city and the ancient literature, we discovered the ancient beauty secrets that inspired us to develop our products.

The naturalness, the zero-waste and the French origin of our ingredients are essential characteristics of our brand. Instead of sourcing ingredients from the other side of the world, our vision is to prioritize ” better consume ” and ” consume local ” by relying on the riches of our local products and our history.

Solicitous over the quality of our plant extracts, we work side by side with the King’s Vegetable Garden on the botanical research about the most respectful cultivation processes and extraction methods of the actives

According to this, we participate in the reintroduction of disappeared varieties in this exceptional site, pioneer of a culture without any fertilizer, pesticide or weed killer.

We give old pharmacopeia a new lease of life finding cosmetic actives on which the benefits of centuries of hindsight have proven efficacy and tolerance. We revisit these ancient formulas in a modern galenic product without any controverted ingredient.

Historical cosmetics however firmly innovating by the simplicity of their ingredients list, their high concentration in plants and their zero-waste aspect.

OUR PARTNER

Our plants extracts are coming from the King’s Garden, built at the request of Louis XIV by Jean-Baptiste de La Quintinie. Today open to the public, it houses the National School of Landscape. Classified as a historic monument and a remarkable natural area, its gardeners perpetuate the art of pruning and cultivate a wide variety of fruits and vegetables in a French garden.

OUR APPROACH

    INSPIRATION

    Our formulas are all inspired by ancient formulas used in the Court of Versailles’s Castle. Why is that so? Because back in time, cosmetic recipes were very simple: only a reduced number of ingredients might be used which therefore must come from gardens. It’s Mademoiselle Saint Germain commitment: cosmetic products with local ingredients and simple INCI lists.

    RESEARCH

    We conducted more than a year of research in libraries to browse reference books, old pharmacopoeia and perfume sales of the period. It was then with our pharmacist expertise and our contemporary vision that we were able to select the recipes that were of most interest from a cosmetic point of view.

    DEVELOPMENT

    Simple cosmetics by their formulas but technically advanced: high tolerance products in a modern and pleasant galenic. All of this proposed within cosmetic lines with 92 to 98% of French or elaborated in France ingredients and 92 to 99% natural ingredients.

    ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

    Each product is an incarnation of the plant because it contains a high concentration of plant while respecting the requirements of a culture without fertilizer, pesticide or weed killer: a concentrate of benefits to sublimate the skin.
