Why pimples (almost) disappear in summer

Summer is often synonymous with clearer skin, a radiant complexion, and spots that seem to magically fade away. At Miss Saint Germain, we take a close interest in the skin, its subtle language, and the little miracles that nature and the seasons can offer.

But is this summer improvement just a fluke or is there a real explanation behind this phenomenon?

The sun, a false friend that dries up only to return better?

Under the sun's rays, the skin produces more melanin, the pigment responsible for tanning, which can temporarily mask redness and blemishes. In addition, UV rays have a drying effect on spots, making them appear to disappear more quickly.

But be careful: while the sun may seem like a short-term ally, it can become a long-term enemy. To protect itself from the sun's aggression, the skin thickens, and pores can become clogged. As a result, when the summer months come around, spots sometimes come back in force, which is what we call the rebound effect.

Less stress, more lightness and soothed skin

In summer, the pace slows down, vacations arrive, and with them, a decrease in stress, often linked to acne breakouts. Mood strongly influences the skin, and this summer respite is not to be overlooked. Add to that a lighter diet richer in fruits and vegetables (and therefore antioxidants), and you have an environment more conducive to skin balance.

Sweat: a false enemy that gently cleanses

Another factor: perspiration. Although it's sometimes perceived as annoying, it plays a natural cleansing role. As it wicks away, it carries some of the impurities with it, helping the skin breathe.
